Morgan Tributary Study
A lovely and exceptionally well run farm - We
felt very privileged to see the beauty of Carroll County on our collecting
adventure. A pair of swans "own" this pond and they threaten and bully
the wild geese and keep them 10 yards back from the edge of the water.
|
|
Visible gravel bars on a healthy stream - This tributary
had very good insect life indicating healthy aquatic life. |
|
Clear riffles and good clean stream gravel - Many may flies
and stone flies were collected particularly from the stream side large woody debris seen in the far pool.
|
|
Down Trees from recent storms - The
banks are moving here dislodging and washing out stricture including
tree roots. Many streams throughout Maryland including the Gunpowder
Falls are exhibiting a lot of stream channel cutting this year. |
